John Cervantes grew up in Austin where he attended Bowie High School class of 98′ and shined on the diamond for the Bulldogs. His love & knowledge of the game led to a future career as a Division 1 College Baseball umpire for the Big 12, Sun Belt, SWAC, ASC and Lonestar Conferences. During the off season John coached fall ball for Austin High School, Hays little league and his daughter’s select softball team. Cervantes coached his daughter through high school where she eventually earned a scholarship to play collegiate softball in Kansas. During Cervantes time as a Big 12 umpire, he and co-owner of the Austin Horns Jonathan Walsh formed a relationship have been in touch ever since. The 2019 Spring season will be Coach Cervante’s first with the Horns and we’re lucky to have him!

John was an active BIG 12 umpire when co-owners of the Austin Horns, Jonathan Walsh & Nick DeSantiago, played for UT and umped some of their games.
